Athletics Reflection 2016

Description: Hi Guys! on Wednesday 23.11.16 We had Athletics! I know,  I know I used to say that I HATE Athletics, but this year I actually liked it! I think that this was the best Athletics I've had at RSS. Nic my teacher has sent me an email to give me questions to answer to complete my Athletics Reflection.

What was the most enjoyable part of athletics for you? Why?
I think that the most enjoyable part of athletics for me was trying my hardest and getting out in the fresh air and burn of some energy.

What are you really proud of? Why?
I'm really proud of coming 2nd place in Shot put because I didn't expect that and I'm also proud of the long distant running even though I didn't come 1st, 2nd or 3rd but I felt good after it because I tried my hardest and didn't stop running no matter what.

What was the most challenging part? Why?
The running was the most hardiest for me because I'm not the fastest, I do like running but it is hard for me to run long distance but I strived for my best and get through it without stopping. I also want to say that I'm really proud of Tane for trying his best every year and he might not be the fastest boy in the school but I think that he's the most resilient boy that I know.

Where to now? What are your goals for next time? Why do you want to focus on this?
Next year since I'm a year 6 I won't be here but I am going to keep striving for my best at Corner Stone and My goal for next time is to not stop believing in myself and I'm going to focus on getting better and work more on my physical education.

Book Buddies

Description: This term we have been carrying on with book buddies. If you missed my post from last term don't bother trying to find it cause why don't I just save u some time and tell u what book buddies is. Book Buddies is a program as I would say that you have a buddy and u read/study the same book and then u read some of it at a time and follow up with ur buddy and then u talk about the book and what u think of whats going on so far in the book eg: what do u like? what don't u like? what do u think is going to happen next? etc.

I'm Book Buddies with Katie again this term like last term and we are reading a book called "My Friend The Enemy. This book was written by the same author who wrote My Brothers Secret which if u didn't already know it was the book that Katie and I read 4 book buddies last term (BTW u should read it cause its a very good book so read it) Our goal is to make connections.

PreP Post

Description: In term 3 we are doing an event called Market Day! "What's Market Day You Ask?" Market Day is an event that we are going to test our business skills like real life. We had to make a Product that we can sell on the day. Since we don't have any money the school loaned us $20 to make our Product BUT! Remember this is real life right? So we have to pay back the loan with the money that we earned at market day to pay it back. "What are we going to do with the extra money that we got?" Well we can choose in our group what we are going to put our money towards, eg: Sports Gear, Charity, Art Supplies, etc. Our group (Katie Me and Caitlin) Decided all together that we are going to put our money toward Art Supplies. Now what did Katie Me and Caitlin make to sell on Market Day? We made little kawaii clay sushi collectibles. The reason why we decided that we were going to make clay sushi collectibles is, we all have a passion for Japan and we all LOVE sushi! (apart from Caitlin) But we all love to look at them.

Art Portfolio Sample

Description: Every Year at Russell Street School, we do an art sample, for our Calendar/ Dairy Art. The Art that we did in Poutama for 2016, We did an art style that we call 'Making Marks', We call it Making Marks because the marks tell us a story about ourselves. My Marks has a Theme, and that Theme is of course Japan, because Japan plays a big part in my career and my life. You can see the things that are Japanese themed in the top flag, my family, on my jacket and in the Baby Metal section. The other two slots aren't Japanese themed and the one on the right is Christen themed because i'm Christen and that play's a big part in my 'LIFE'. The one on the left is a rainbow background because I like rainbows and it says that i'm mostly always happy. The last section on the bottom is just black because I want it to make my portrait pop.

Do Dreams Really Die? Writing Portfolio Sample

Description: This term in writing we split up into different groups depending on what our writing goal was. Last term we decided what our writing goal was going to be. I chose 'Words' because I'm not that good with words. Since I'm 'REALLY' passionate about Japan I 'OF COURSE' Wrote a story about Japan, hope you enjoy my story! ^-^

Feedforward: I did not find any thing bad about your writing or your post!!!!

Evaluation: I think that I did a good job at writing what I think would probably would have happened if I was stuck in Japan with out a job, But I don't think I used many good 'non boring words' so I think I still need to work on words. ^-^

ET Reo portfolio post

Description: So its close to the end of Term 3 which can only mean two things, 1 Its close to the last day of being at Russell Street School and I feel like I want to cry when someone brings it up because I'm going to miss the teachers and some of my friends A LOT! but at least I can still come here every Sunday because my church runs here but I won't be able to see the teaches unless they come on Sunday morning to do some work like Nic did once. Any way I'm getting a bit side tracked so the second this that this means is that its another SLC, so we have to make an ET Reo post. In ET Reo we have been learning some Whakatauki. So what is a Whakatauki? A Whakatauki is a quote and this one that I'm doing a post about is "He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!" Which translates to "What is the most important thing in the world? The People! The People! The People!" To represent this quote we did some art, to put something on the wall like this:

Evaluation: I think that my art is pretty good because I tried to give Nalla Chan some texturing and not just colouring her in and also give the eyes that Green, Blue and Purple half gradient effect but not full on gradient and I think that I but the highlights in a good place to give the eye some life. But I think that the body is a bit too small and the hair isn't just like her hair style in the Anime and I don't think that I should have done the eye patch because she doesn't wear one. But Its still better than I imagined. ^-^

A School Ambassador

Description: Today I got a role to be a school ambassador. A school ambassador is someone that takes some visitors around the school and tells them about the school. We got to wear a jacket that had the school logo on it. After we showed our visitors around we had brunch and then we got our devices and showed a visitor our blogs my visitors name is Jammy-lee and she is a really inspireing person

Description: This term in Poutama we have been participating in this new reading program called Book Buddies but BB 4 short. My book buddy is Katie and we called our "Kawaii Girls" and we're reading a book called 'My Brothers Secret' And its a story that takes place in Germany in world war 2 and the main is an 11 year old boy that used to love Hitler and was in the Hitler boys group but after his Papa died he has hated Hitler and wants to become an Edelwise pirate like his brother and his brothers girl friend and makes a new friend who's name is Lisa. Thats all I can say because I don't want to spoil it for you so if you want to read the book you can and its My Brothers Secret by Dan Smith.

Evaluation: I think that this book is really good because sometimes it's calm but then sometimes unexpectedly something bad happens like Karls mum slaps Kriminal Inspektor Wolf in the face then he gets mad and then punches Karl's mum to the ground and holds a pistol at her like that was unexpected.

Description: This term we've been learning measurement maths. we're doing measurement because of a rich task that we are learning towards. So in maths we usually have workshops to do with what our focus is on in maths, and since we are learning measurement we can choose what kind of workshop we want to take. There are workshops on: capacity, area, weight or length. I mainly focused on capacity because I just want to get one right at a time.

Yes U know what day it is. It's Monday and that means its gonna B a Funday, Hey I like that Funday-Monday. Girl workshop with Nic (patterns)

Description: 2day in maths I did a pattern workshop with Nic and it was only girls YYYAAAYYY!!! so we did a little game in our workshop and the boys did the same game but after us girls because DAHHHH! ladies come first again DAHHHH! so we made a small pattern each and the person sitting next to us would move clockwise to the pattern that the other person did. This is a pattern I followed on that Harriet made this is a picture of it:

Anime/Manga SLC portfolio post

Description: This year I've been really into anime and passionate about it, So I made a club that would help Katie Chan, Aiden Kun, Rose Chan and I, create an Anime of our own. Katie Chan, Aiden Kun, Rose Chan and I are the club leaders. I'm the head leader and Rose Chan is the diploidy leader, Aiden Kun is the extra leader and Katie Chan is the helper leader. So theres a way to get into our club that isn't like how you join normal clubs. To become a club member you have to do an act that we think would be worthy for the Anime. We are pretty strict on what we put on the anime and if you can get a part in the anime. This act has to come naturally because we can tell if somethings fake or not. We've all got a job in the anime, I'm the most experienced so I do the characters that is in the focus of the seine, Rose Chan is doing the background seines because she's the second most experienced with anime drawing, and Katie Chan is doing the smaller background characters because she is petty good at drawing and Aiden Kun is doing the random people. Now to get in the Anime I have to see it since I'm doing the main characters.

Evaluation: I'm proud of drawing the characters especially the boys at the top because they were the first boys I've ever done. It was still hard doing the first boys because I got taught how to do girls first and putting the testosterone facial features in is hard to.  

Code Club Portfolio post

Description: This year I joined Code Club because last year I REALLY enjoyed it. So this post is about what I've been doing in Code Club. So last year we went in the staff room and did our coding in there, but this year we go in room 1 to make the classroom useful, the other improvement is that we now have coloured paper so it makes the coding more easier to find the different codes.

Game: This is a little game I was working on:

Evaluation: I think that I completed this coding project faster because the instructions where colour coded so I could find the codes faster and but unfortunately I didn't finished the game so the game is only a sand box game so you can't win "YET."

Big Idea: For writing we have 2 spell the words correctly so thats why we do spelling.

Evaluation: I think that I did well at timing and spelling but the words were to easy so next time I would find something that challenges me.

Description: On Thursdays the year 6s and the year 5s split up and the year 5s do passion projects like we did last year. banyan tree art

Description: In the last week of term 1 we did some art. Anna was relieving in P3 at the time while Nic was away. We created some art where we had a black out line of a banyan tree and used gradient colours 2 fill the gaps. First we made the outline of the banyan tree after that we used black paint to colour the tree outline. Soon after the paint had dried we started to use pastel to colour in the gaps of the banyan tree and decided 2 give the gradient effect but thats not all we did so after filling in the gaps we did the background and gave a sunset background with the tree sitting peacefully in the water.

Evaluation: I think I was creative with the gradient colours and finding new colour compinations. I didn't find anything hard but I still tried my best and was very fun. :)

Description: Today we started maths again after our school holiday. This term we're focused on fractions and in Nic A we did a factions problem and this is my work:

Evaluation: I think that I did well @ slitting the bag up the right way. I didn't think I was challenged enough with this problem so next time I expect a problem more aimed @ my age.  

Day in a life of cabin 18 toilet

Description: In writing we wrote about a camp themed story. My goal for this piece of writing is to entertain. There were many ways of writing we could do to entertain I chose to do a day in a life. since the cabin group I was in, stayed in the Willow lodge it was an ensuite I don't know what the Popla lodge was like where most of the girls were but I decided to do a day in a life of our cabins toilet.

Evaluation: I think that when I have in my story in different fonts for different things It added that detail but I think that next time I should use less and longer paragraphs.

Te Reo maori Whakapapa (family tree)

Description: In 2016 I joined the Te Reo maori instead of choosing Kapahaka I wanted to try Te Reo maori and see how it goes. Our first activity was to make a Whakapapa. A Whakapapa means family tree in maori. I created a 3d model of my Whakapapa on sketch up. I used multiple Spheres and a cylinder to make the tree and 3d text to write the text.

Description: last week from the 8th to the 10th of March the year 5 and 6s of Russell Street School went on there school camp. Our camp was held at camp El Rancho. One Word Art Portfolio Sample

Description: In 2016 we have a One Word. A One Word is one word that describes a goal that we want to work towards. This goal needs to be something that can benefit you  My One Word is "Friendship" Because in my report said that my relationship with others was not that good so thats what I'm working on.

To show what our One Word is, we decided to do some art that is a picture of us holding a sign and the sign is the art that says our word.

Feedback: I think that Bridget did well at thinking of what to make it look more interesting.

Feedforward: I think that Bridget should work on putting more colours in .Naomi

Evaluation: I think that I did well at being creative and showing things that I liked into the letters but I think that I should have done what Naomi said and adding more neon colours and not just pastel like colours. Next time I would have done Neon colours because they are my favorite kind of colours.

Camp is next week on the 8th of March and to have a bit excitement we decided to write goals for our camp that involve our one word.
